The Royal Mint lies at the heart of Britain and its coinage, and has produced coins of the realm for over 1,000 years.
Collector coins are the finest examples of the art of minting. They are produced to the highest quality and are issued to commemorate important events, anniversaries and sporting occasions.
Proof Coins
The Royal Mint's Proof coins are produced using the perfect combination of centuries-old craftsmanship and state of the art technology.
To achieve the superior quality of Proof coins, the die is sand blasted with fine particles to give a frosted finish. The surrounding table or field is then carefully hand polished with diamond paste, a process that takes many hours and considerable skill, resulting in the mirror-like finish.
Proof coins issued by the Royal Mint are considered to be amongst the finest and most sought after in the world.
